Hello Threshold Walker,
Wherever this note finds you, may traces of grace be lighting your path. It’s been a little while since you last heard from me here. The quiet hasn’t meant absence ~ it’s meant creating. Part of what I’ve been tending during this quiet stretch is, Enriching Connections, another strand in the larger mycelial web of transformation.
Whereas From Grit to Grace tends the mythic and personal dimensions of transition, its sister-stream, Enriching Connections, focuses on the social and systemic: the inter-relational field where nervous systems meet, where communities learn, where living architectures of change take root. The two streams complement one another ~ the inner and the collective, the soul and the system ~ each essential on its own, and luminous in partnership. You’re welcome to wander over anytime.
Now that these distinct spaces are rooted, I’m returning my focus here ~ to the conversational topics that are emerging within these dimensions. Episode 3 is on the horizon, featuring Stephanie Nestlerode of 7th Generation Labs. And it’s fascinating to notice how much her wisdom echoes what Denise Hopkins offered in Episode 2.
As a refresher: Denise, a forest yoga teacher and somatic guide, reminded us that transformation often begins with a threshold. Thresholds can feel disorienting. They strip away the old scaffolding and leave us tender in the unknown. Yoga, Denise shared, is one way to stay present in that in-between space…to breathe through discomfort and soften into becoming.
In Episode 3, we’ll consider: what if thresholds aren’t only personal? What if whole communities reach them together…when the old ways no longer hold, and something else must emerge?
So stay tuned. Episode 3 will lead us from breath and body into history and horizon, from individual awareness into collective thresholds and long memory.
And while you’re waiting for this next conversation, consider re-listening to Episode 2. A dear colleague once told me: the most transformative things aren’t the ones we consume once, but the ones we return to…slowly finding new layers each time. There’s always more to discover when we chew anew.
With gratitude for being in this field together,
Laureen
PS: If something in From Grit to Grace resonates for you, feel free to pass posts along to others you may know who are navigating thresholds of their own. Sometimes a small signal of grace is exactly what someone needs to hear.
Ah . . . your words always flow from a place of Grace . . my father's ministry focused on giving people an experience of God's grace . . . from the pulpit but also in their homes. My version of it is creating the space to learn what matters . . . and what truly matters is discovering 'who we are' so that we can make conscious choices about how and when we show up in the world. Creating flourishing spaces where the individual and the collective dance in harmony. Laureen, you're always an inspiration to me!
I love what you are building here and holding space for, Laureen. Again, so much resonance.
