I’m excited to listen to your podcast, Laureen. I resonate deeply with what you wrote about here, and find it true for me. For the past couple of days, I’ve let go of working as hard as I have been on projects I care deeply about, simply because the energy wasn’t there for me. I decided to “glide” for a couple of days, and instead focus on playing a video game I truly love. And in doing so, in relaxing my mind and switching the topic to what was alive for me, all kinds of new insights have come. When we are in territory where nobody else can show the way, we have to rely on these signals and learn to ride the waves of energy, attuning to the way of resonance between our inner worlds and what is happening outside of us.
Wow, @Jennifer Damashek! To let go of working as hard as you had been ~ especially on projects you care deeply about ~ simply because the energy wasn’t there…and to choose instead to glide for a couple of days, playing a video game you truly love!!! That’s not just nourishing. It’s revolutionary. (sooo countercultural and pattern-breaking!)
And then to name that, publicly, without apology? That’s brave-hearted magic…the kind of leadership my nervous system craves. I say magic, because we’ve been taught to work in straight lines but so often, it’s the indirect route that actually gets us where we want to go. Playing with nonlinearity…that’s where I think the real magic lives. (That’s the idea behind obliquity...for fellow nerds, here’s a link if you’re curious: https://www.amazon.com/Obliquity-Goals-Best-Achieved-Indirectly/dp/0143120557)
I believe courage is contagious…and I hope to catch more from you! Thank you for the ways you continue to help me stretch and grow beyond my current edges.
Thank you, Si! I’m so glad this resonated with you. I look forward to hearing what ripples emerge as you listen in and I appreciate you showing up with such warmth. It means a lot.
